But I sincerely hope those segments of the game will still be first-person? Because switching from first-person to third-person literally breaks the pace of the game. It would be so cool if you are literally in the mech instead of a camera floating behind it.

That is what I liked so much about the original F.E.A.R. Practically everything was done in first-person. That made those helicopter-scenes look so fantastic!
Find out the name of the magazine and I'll put it in my first post.

wow...well that certainly changes things. It's a shame too because I actually really enjoyed both expansions I wish I would've known this before.
well on the bright side I guess this means jin and the gang are still alive. Hmmm.... I guess Fettel really is dead then

seeings as this go around you will be playing as a delta force survivor I wonder if you will run in to Holiday later on because he is afterall the delta force leader in the original. The more I think about it the more I'm convinced that the the survivors of the original will probably play a significant role in this new installment simply because it wouldn't make sense to have them missing.

btw at the time the demo was shown at E3 how much of the game was complete bacause it seemed like it was maybe at the half way point

The demo was most likely the 2nd/3rd level into the game.

I agree with that guy a few pages back, I'm kind of disappointed to hear the story will continue as if EP and PM never happened. That, plus giving the player character a name, is already a big departure from what I thought FEAR was all about.

I can't say I mind the fact that the character has a name now, it's not as if it's really going to affect much in terms of actual gameplay.

And whilst I also enjoyed the first expansion pack (never played Perseus Mandate), I'm really interested in where they're taking this series in general. Honestly, I didn't care too much about Project Origin until I read a couple of previews and saw that the devs acknowledged the flaws in the previous games (such as the cubicle farm nature of the levels) and were going to be rectifying that. Along with acknowledging that "Spooky little girl" doesn't cut it anymore for scares, at least not on its own.

So all in all, I'm looking forward to what they come up with.

Let's just hope that all these new improvements are properly executed. I think that's where many game devs tend to fail.

Just as the saying goes.... you may be able to talk the talk but can you walk the walk?

More importantly, can you walk the walk whilst also moving in slow-mo AND pulling off a totally sweet bicycle kick?

I'm truly interested in Paxton Fettel. Are they planing to show him again?
I simply can't imagine that game without Paxton and his "They deserve to die .All of them. Bwahahaha*evillaugh* "

P:S Sorry if it already has been asked.

That information has yet to be disclosed - as soon as we're meant to know, im sure we'll be told. The best sort of estimate would be to consider that its release date is set for this Fall, and so the demo (if there is one) will likely be released around that sort of time, I doubt they'd release it months in advance.

Fileplanet allows your to "reserve a demo", and Project Origin is on the list, pretty much guaranteeing that it'll come out at some point. I believe there is another thread specifically about this, here's a link

"Monolith's Timeline (True Series):: F.E.A.R. --------------> Project Origin."

So why the hell aren't they including The Point Man in Project Origin who was such a big part of F.E.A.R., namely son of Alma? Monolith came up with F.E.A.R.'s story line and now they're flushing such a big character down the toilet. Remember the last words after you finish F.E.A.R., "The first prototype (The Point Man) was a complete success." It appeared that The Point Man was tested and somebody special. Monolith came up with this shit and they should at least explain themselves at what's happened with the Point Man in Project Origin.

Welcome to the forums, Allmac - lets cool down and take a step back here for a moment shall we? and take a look at what we know.

First of all, what is there to say that FEAR was about the Point Man? Yes, we play as him - but I always felt the story was about Alma and the Origin Project as opposed to the Point Man. I felt that playing one of the son's of Alma was a plot device to enable us to better understand the emotional attachments and history surrounding Alma and what she has been through. A prelude to her release if you like - just as I assume that playing a delta operative, namely Beckett, sent in to investigate the situation will provide an excellent plot device to get to grips with what Alma's goal is now she's free.

Secondly, who said they're flushing the Point Man down the toilet? Just because we're not playing as him, doesn't mean he may not have an effect on the plotline, and it also certainly doesn't mean that the first game didn't happen. Whether we see him or not has not yet been disclosed to us, but what's to say that Alma's son won't have some effect on whats going on? Then again, why would he? This leads me wonderfully onto the final point...

We have no idea what Alma's ultimate goal is. She's been freed and is evidently somewhat angry with a few key people for messing up her life a little bit, but what is she trying to do now? That's just it - we don't know. I'd suggest that before deciding that the plot has gone to naught because we arn't playing as the Point Man, we play the game, and chances are we'll realise that playing the Point Man wouldn't get the plot across in the best possible way, you've suggested that Monolith arn't explaining their motives for not playing the protgaonist from the first game, but I think they are - I think it's in the game they're making.

Welcome again.

The apparent omission of characters such as Point Man, Douglas Holiday and Jinn in PO makes me wonder whether they are truly ignoring the expansion packs, namely Extraction Point. As we all know, Jinn and Doug were killed off in XP and Point Man's fate remains unknown.
I wonder whether Monolith are in a sense saying "Look, we don't like what TimeGate has done with our characters, but the damage is done, hence the new storyline and new protagonist in PO."
Project Origin likely won't refer to events that took place in XP, but probably won't contradict them either.
