Hey guys - I'm making this thread to cut down on the random spam on the forum. Please keep the talking in this thread as minimal as possible, only post in here if there is a question I missed or something else you are wondering about that I can add to the list
This thread will be stickied for easy access. FIRST OF ALL, EXTRACTION POINT AND PERSEUS MANDATE DO NOT FOLLOW THE OFFICIAL STORY LINE! See question 4 for more details. Q: When is Project Origin coming out?: A: The fuck you talking about? It's already out! Q: Do we play as the original Point Man from F.E.A.R.? A: No. All we know is it's a new character from the Delta squad, who was having some kind of operation done on him who then woke up alone in a hospital. His name is Michael Beckett. Him waking up in the hospital is not the beginning of the actual game, but it is the beginning of the E3 trailer. We suspect the beginning of the game will be when Michael and his team raid the ATC complex, then they end up getting injured / captured, hence the start of the video. Q:If the Pointman isn't coming back, are ANY of the characters? A:We don't know how many (if any) characters are returning. We do know, though, that the ATC enemies are making a return, as well as bad(der) ass replicas. We know that both versions of Alma will be in the game (freaky asian Alma, and freaky dead girl Alma). Fettle/Mapes/Holiday/Jin's status is unknown. Q: What is the health system going to be like? A:Health packs have returned to the game. You can carry up to 3 packs, which regenerate your health fully. You also can have armr just like the first. Q: What is up with Extraction Point? And Perseus Mandate? Is Project Origin following these? A: Nope. It's as if they never even existed. Monolith is ignoring both of those games' story lines. Monolith did not develope the 2 expansion packs. Xero put it in a good way: Monolith's Timeline (True Series):: F.E.A.R. --------------> Project Origin. Nothing else. Vivendi's Timeline: F.E.A.R. -------> Extraction Point | | V Perseus Mandate. - On a side note, Yurei has mentioned that we will MOST LIKELY not be seeing an appearance by the old F.E.A.R. squad (Jin, Holiday), so don't count on that. Q: So then.... when does the new game start? A: The game begins about 30 minutes before the original F.E.A.R. ends. (better graphical nuke, anyone?) Q: Vehicles? What's up with them? Drivable? A: We will be able to assume control of badass mechs that can tear shreds through... well.. anything. Q: Who's in control here? A: That would be Yurei. He is the Community Manager for Monolith themselves! Draconis is the playtest-usability crazy Asian dude :P, and Marauder is the Community Consultant. Basically Yurei # 2. Also, Project Wiggy is a moderator. Q: Where can I post my idea about the game? A: That would be in the Developer Q & A section. We also have a "wishlist for Project Origin" thread going in this topic, so if there's something you're really hoping to see in the game, tell us about it in there. Q: What kind of graphical improvements will there be? A: Well we don't know all the improvements, and Monolith is even listening to stuff we here would like to see in the game. We do know that they are using the same engine, but an enhanced version of it. A couple things that have been improved so far: The lighting and the blood now look phenominal. Aso, outside environments look outstanding. Facial detail, animations, textures, all are vastly improved. It doesn't even seem like the old engine anymore. Q: Where can I download the 18 minute demo video in HD that is out? A: Right HERE: http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/8...87/vids_1.html This will only work in ONE WAY. First, you must have Firefox as your browser. Second, click the "right click to save as" on the HD version (it's in the box "insiders only") A box will pop up saying that you can't watch it bcause you're not a subscriber, but the right click box will stay there anyways. All you need to do now is just click save as, and then it will download anyways, then you can watch when it's finished. Alright, I think that should cover most of it ![]() Q: Who's awesome? A: Bigfoot's awesome. Updated Friday, September 12, 10:20PM -Bigfoot REMEMBER, THIS IS NOT A THREAD FOR RANDOM DISCUSSION!

1. did mapes really survived the explosion? 2. waht happen to your other delta teams? 3. was the demo actually taken off the first level or is it just a made up mission just to show the game? 4. what might other failed experiment will there be?

Thanks for making this thread Bigfoot! Great starter list. I will shut up now so I don't clog up the FAQ process.

One thing you should change:
It's unknown why Michael is having that operation on him, but that's not how the game starts. It starts when him and his Delta squad storm an ATC complex to try and detain an ATC executive. (Possibly Genevieve.) He most likely gets critically injured, and Genevieve see's another oppertunity to create some kind of supersoldier, so she has Michael taken to the hospital. |

I highly doubt it. It's still using the same engine as F.E.A.R., but just a little upgraded, so the reqs might be a tiny bit higher. Or, they might be the same, if Lith has managed to use the technology better.

I wouldn't want movable vehicles to be added to the game, but I would like to be able to fire a vehicle-mounted weapon (50 caliber possibly?) against torrents of enemy troops.
I just think adding ridable vehicles would make it too much like Halo-ish. - Sinn

I would still want vehicles. You don't know if they would be Halo-ish or not.

Well... We did fix that article from F.E.A.R. Extraction Point back into just F.E.A.R. before we posted the last comment so maybe thats what happened.

Well after watching the Project Origin video on IGN the Jupiter Extended (EX) Engine is a great engine. All the criticism with it aging, but it still kicks ass! I've stated before it's only getting better-and-better. I also saw some Crysis game like features such as the design of the HUD display and gun selection features.

My thoughts on the Q/A and heading of the development and creation of Project Origin.
I must say I am bitter... very bitter. I think the direction is wrong and the road its following could me futile (as my subjective opinion and point of view with the x-planations following. I am not trying to spread any flaming or hatred but merely a reflection to those responsible.) F.E.A.R., as we know it, is all about the scares (we love em) but it also has a very very veeeryyyy strong storyline which unfolds slowly thru the game. First of all, for one that has played x-traction point and perseus mandate, it has a natural following that I will play PO too. For a big fan (not a fanatic) of the series I sure dont like to play, as it is published, a "sequel" that will tell me otherwise what the previous "events" (XP, PM) told me. That is just wrong (think half life would have done that... would be terrible). An alternative for the story (of course its to late to change anything but i still would like to say it) could be of the events happening after years of the explosion, apart from what happened in XP and/or PM. That wouldnt mix nor cross any storylines of anyone, and everyone would be happy. Another, lesser interesting thought, would be the end of XP, after the helo x-plodes, could get our pointman to the OP table (as seen on the PO Demo) and the story continues from there, without any confilcts with PM, which could continue in the future as the parallel story in PO, like it has done in F.E.A.R. For the PO story beginning just before the F.E.A.R. ending and we playing this other character, I dont see, seriously and others see it and feel the same way, that you just copy/imitade timegate/vivendi on this. Perseus mandate is the parallel story of another character in F.E.A.R. and Extraction Point is just the following of the ending of the original F.E.A.R. . Project Origin takes both XP and PM, and at the end doesnt do anything which is very saddening and all what I have told above is shared with other fans in the one or the other way. PO can score with good FX and scares but can forget the good, solid, impressive, original and strong storyline it had in F.E.A.R. . F.E.A.R. brought a new and inovative game engine with it, things that we hadnt seen before in any other game. Sadly the Demo doesnt show anything new that hasnt been there before, so I hope the old engine extension could be replaced by a new one, because lith can really do new and impressive engines on their own. Thx for reading. |

You don't play as the point man. The game starts half an hour before the events of the original FEAR, with you being an operative sent to arrest genevive. Which is kind of intriuging cosndiering hte 17 min E3 demo, she was supervising an operation fo yourself.
I like this approach. FEAR showed the pure horror of the origin project and PO wl show you what ATCis doing to cover it up.. |

See but it's not an alternative story happening at the same time, like Perseus Mandate is.
This is a sequel, from a different point of view. And I completely disagree that the story will be weaker this time, because they have a whole destroyed city at their disposal. Think of all the possibilities.
