Default How the Game should have Ended (IMO)

THIS THREAD CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!!! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK

Okay so this is how the game should have ended in my opinion (and i know i must stress that to keep a lot of you from going crazy lol).

Monolith created a dramatic ending at the climax of Fear 2. Aristide had killed Stokes who got in the way of her plan of trying to capture Alma for her own personal gain. The player was being used as bait to attract the most powerful being of the world. You know you are going to die and that there s nothing you can do about it. That is a powerful situation to put the player in. Now what should have happened next was a cut scene where you scene yourself just dissolve (similar to what alma does in the final cutscene) and maybe a glimpse of you being trapped in alma's world. Instead monolith has created a prego ghost. Cmon lith Little girl...scary Rotting 20 year old corpse...not as scary but gets the job done. Prego ghost...lol wtf is that.

I just don't think the sight is as disturbing and most are stilled confused as to what exactly did happen. For me a story is the most important part of a game, this is why i liked Fear 1 sooo much. I enjoy cliff hangars, not confusion (sorry Schmuck). Well ive said my peace but i am intrested in what you guys think of this.

Nah.....that'd be like Halo 2, I think. Besides, that's a far more predictable ending than the realization that Alma not only raped Becket, but impregnated herself with his seed. I mean, even I was speculating that Becket would simply die or "synchronize" with Alma, and her being impregnated him surprised me, thankfully.

Pregnant Alma > Becket getting absorbed.

So you're suggesting that we'd maybe play the third game in Alma's world?

Well, I thought it looked pretty clear you were trapped in alma's world. When alma puts becketts hand on her belly, it isn't against the background of the inside of the still island facility. It's against the background of the hellish burning landscape you fight keegan in.

Exactlty. I'm not so much legitimately asking if you're suggesting that, so much as I am advocating that your ending has no point. The pregnancy ending IS a cliffhanger.

Why would I want to play through F2 just to see Becket get dissolved like any other character?

just because it ended on a "what's gonna happen?" note doesn't make it bad.
if you answer all the questions too quickly, then it becomes boring and you're not expecting anything interesting later.

Or you can replace them with bigger and more intriguing ones. If you can.

because it means that alma is still at large. It leaves plenty of room for a sequel

who's to say they wont? people keep slaughtering any game with a cliff hanger ending because they don't get their precious answers fast enough. can't be patient, wait for a sequel, and enjoy the current game as it is.

The cliff hanger at the end of the first fear was awesome. They answered so many questions and left more without any real confusion.

Fear 2 left confusion which i feel was detrimental to the conclusion of the story

I didn't say that the F2 ending was bad.

That was the point of the first game's ending. They had to go somewhere different with F2.

I liked that the ending was at least unexpected- most games, you can see the ending coming from a mile away.

There are some interesting story ideas floating around for the single player DLC (releasing this summer) that might start making connections between F.E.A.R.2 and...whatever else is coming after
